COPYRIGHT
& REPRODUCTION LICENSE INFORMATION.
What is this "reproduction licence" for?
All images are protected by copyright law and moral rights. In order to lawfully
reproduce any such images, permission from the copyright owner is required. The
reproduction licence grants permission within the terms laid out in the licence.
What if I don't
have a reproduction licence?
Without permission, any reproduction is illegal and the person responsible could
face criminal prosecution. Any reputable photographic lab will not reproduce professional
imagery without the copyright holder's permission.
So, who owns
the copyright then?
Marston Photography Limited assigns copyright to the author of the images, which
in most cases is Craig Marston.
But I've paid
for the photographs, surely they're mine to do with as I please?
You have paid for the photographer's skill and creativity and the time and expense
of the photographic shoot; you have also paid for any materials such as photographic
prints, or albums. You do not own the copyright and ultimately cannot own the
photographic image.
This
copyright stuff is very involved / deep / boring / dull...
